Gear that rides with you
For you, for the trip, for off-road: what to look for when choosing your gear. In the shop we stock KLIM.

01
The layering principle
Off-road, what you need changes fast: cold in the morning, sweating in the sand by midday. Instead of one thick jacket you wear layers you can put on and take off one by one.
- Base: technical underwear that wicks sweat away – no cotton, it stays wet.
- Mid: a light, warm layer such as fleece.
- Outer: jacket and trousers that protect against wind, rain and crashes.

02
Jacket and trousers
The first question: how much rain, how much heat? A waterproof membrane keeps rain out but gets hot quickly in the sand in summer. Off-road jackets rely on large vents instead; for rain, you add a layer on top.
Look for pockets for armour at the shoulders, elbows and knees – and trousers that fit over your boots.

03
Armour
A back protector belongs off-road. It is tested to EN 1621-2; at level 2 less force reaches your back on impact than at level 1. If it’s well ventilated, you’ll wear it on hot days too.

04
Gloves
Off-road you’re constantly working the clutch and brake – gloves that are too thick cost you feel. Thin off-road gloves with protection at the knuckles and palms suit most rides; pack a second pair for rain and cold.

05
Often forgotten
Small things, big difference:
- Warm technical socks – especially in boots with a membrane.
- A neck tube against dust and wind.
